Sun Damage, Dark Spots & Uneven Skin Tone in Tysons & McLean, VA
Treating Sun Damage, Dark Spots and Uneven Tone
Years of sun, hormones and time leave their mark as brown spots, freckling, redness, broken capillaries and a complexion that no longer looks even. Pigmentation is the concern; light and laser energy that targets the pigment and redness, and treatments that renew the skin’s surface, are how we address it.
DermaGlow MedSpa offers several options, from the BBL® Photofacial that many clients choose for sun spots to chemical peels that brighten and even the skin’s surface. Your provider recommends the right one, or a combination, during a consultation at our Tysons location.
Treatments for Sun Damage & Uneven Tone
BBL® Photofacial by Sciton®
BBL® uses BroadBand Light™ technology to reduce the appearance of age spots, sun damage, redness and broken capillaries, leaving the skin clearer and more even. It treats the face, neck, chest, arms and hands, is non-invasive with minimal downtime, and is suitable for various skin types and areas.
MOXI® by Sciton®
MOXI® is a gentle fractional laser that addresses pigmentation and sun damage while improving overall tone and texture, with quick sessions and minimal downtime. It is suitable for all skin types and tones, which makes it a go-to for uneven tone on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels exfoliate the outer layers of the skin to address sun damage, uneven skin tone and fine lines on the face, neck and hands. The depth of the peel is matched to your skin and goals, from a gentle brightening peel to a deeper corrective one.
Cartessa® Helix CO2 Laser
For sun damage that comes with wrinkles and texture, the Cartessa® Helix CO2 laser resurfaces the skin, supporting collagen production and natural renewal to improve tone, texture and the appearance of sun damage over time.
HydraFacial®
HydraFacial® cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates the skin in one treatment, addressing uneven skin tone and dullness on the face, neck and décolletage. It is a gentle way to maintain a bright, even complexion between corrective treatments.

FAQs
What causes dark spots and uneven skin tone?
Sun exposure, hormonal changes and the natural aging process all contribute to pigmentation, freckling and redness. Your provider will identify the type of discoloration you have, since that determines which treatment works best.
Is BBL® the same as IPL?
BBL® by Sciton® is a BroadBand Light™ treatment, a light-based technology that delivers energy to the skin to reduce pigmentation, redness and fine lines. Your provider can explain how it compares to other light-based treatments at your consultation.
Is there downtime?
BBL® and MOXI® are non-invasive treatments with minimal downtime, and lighter chemical peels and HydraFacial® have little to none. CO2 resurfacing involves more recovery, which your provider will explain before you book.
How many treatments will I need?
Many clients see improvement after the first session, and a series is often recommended for optimal results, particularly with MOXI®. Your provider will outline a plan for your skin. Individual results vary.
